IMG_20180726_084251.jpg

Things that went well:

  1. Scheduling time for hiccups in plan

  2. Prepared for most mechanical mishaps

  3. Able to fix bags with Paracord (carried extra for emergencies/multi-use)

  4. Navigation (using the paper maps)

Things I would bring next time:

  1. Better rain jacket

  2. More brake pads

  3. 2 battery packs for piece of mind.

  4. Wool chamois

  5. Waterproof socks if rainy

  6. Waterproof gloves if rainy

Things I would do differently:

  1. Metal brake pads

  2. Only need one wool jersey

  3. Apply "butt-butter" sooner

  4. No need for a stove.

  5. Switch up lunch, not just bars

  6. More upper body training for pushing and lifting the bike

  7. Top tube bag for Morgan

  8. Put spare cables in handlebars

  9. Plan more time to stop in town to charge battery packs. Bring another adapter in order to charge multiple electronics at once.

  10. Easier buckle on frame bag

  11. Try to put something on forks (like pump)

  12. Different bike shoes for Morgan for walking

  13. Lighter more packable rain pants for Harrison

  14. Lasik eye surgery for Morgan (contacts are a pain)

  15. Somehow change water filtration bag to collect water easier

  16. Swept back handlebar maybe

  17. Morgan drake 4 water bottles a day but I drank less than 3L camelback

Things to bring again:

  1. Salami and Cheese

  2. Garmin GPS

  3. Wool jersey

  4. Wipes!!

  5. Crocs

  6. Sunsleeves

Injuries on trip:

  1. Blisters from walking

  2. Saddle sores

  3. Ulnar nerve damage

Things I would NOT bring next time

  1. Jacket that wasn’t waterproof

  2. Extra jersey
